{ Evolution }
To ensure the success of its UX team, Kindred Group has continuously improved its UX onboarding process. While the HR onboarding process was deemed sufficient in the past, as designOps, we recognised that more was needed to make new employees feel confident in their roles.
To address this, my team and I created a UX identity that helped new employees feel more connected to the UX team and understand their roles better. The UX identity also instilled a sense of pride and belonging among team members.
Identity
Kindred's UX Identity project aimed to unify the design team and promote a user-centered approach. We created a unique logo for each discipline to showcase their expertise. Six slogans were developed to inspire collaboration and celebrate the team's achievements. The project fostered a sense of community and reinforced Kindred's commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
Process
A detailed plan of what new hires can expect during their first month, including an overview of the company culture, team structure, and project workflows. We also provide a personalized roadmap outlining the specific tasks and milestones for each new hire to ensure they have everything they need to succeed. Additionally, we assign an onboarding buddy to each new hire to help them navigate their first few weeks and ensure they feel supported.
Tool
We chose Notion as our onboarding tool because it's user-friendly, flexible, and perfect for collaboration. With its customizable templates and easy-to-use interface, we're able to create a seamless onboarding experience for our team. And by including QR codes in our merch box, we're making it even easier for individuals to access our Notion onboarding content page on the go.
Merchandise
For our onboarding project, we wanted to provide our team with high-quality merchandise that's both useful and memorable. We chose a jumper, water bottle, notebook, travel mug, pen, power bank, UX identity stickers, and a time boxing book. Each item was carefully selected to foster a sense of belonging and promote productivity. With these items, we successfully made our team feel welcome and equipped to tackle any task that comes their way.
